12 months on from winning\u00a0startup\u00a0of the year at the\u00a0<\/span>Bionow<\/span>\u00a0awards,\u00a0<\/span>LightOx\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0Senior Scientist, David Chisholm, has been\u00a0awarded Promising Technologist of the Year.<\/span><\/h4>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1589360948704{padding-top: 1vh !important;}”]Bionow<\/span>\u00a0awards are prestigious for the\u00a0<\/span>life science community\u00a0in\u00a0Northern England and their 18th year was no exception.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The North East was well represented at the event,\u00a0with the Northern Alliance taking a table and also winning an award for Healthcare Project of the Year,\u00a0along with familiar faces –\u00a0<\/span>Iksuda<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>BioSignatures<\/span>\u00a0from the newly opened Biosphere. All companies were ably supported by Dave Holmes,\u00a0<\/span>Bionow\u2019s<\/span> North East Membership Manager, who was also the awards host. <\/span>David faced strong competition in the category with the most nominees.\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1589361882961{padding-top: 1vh !important;}”]He has been involved with LightOx since the company\u2019s inception and has been a key player in the design and development of <\/span>LightOx\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0photoactive compounds for the treatment of early-stage oral cancer. <\/span><\/p>\n

David gained his PhD in Biological Chemistry\u00a0<\/span>in 2017\u00a0from Durham University, and stood out early on as a dynamic scientist capable of straddling multiple disciplines. David progressed to postdoctoral research in association with the University of Aberdeen and designed a series of novel compounds for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.<\/span><\/p>\n

David now leads the chemistry team at LightOx, making a major contribution to the strategic aims of the company.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1589361672271{padding-top: 1vh !important;}”]\n
